Customer Sales (detail) report not showing description

The current statement template does not include a description showing what an invoice has been issued for.  I recently switched over from Account Right which had this feature.  I shouldn't have to go through every invoice to let a client know what an invoice was issued for. I received this response and have posted a suggestion to the Business Product Ideas Board:  "Unfortunately, the description value is taken from the Journal Memo of the transaction from the AccountRight desktop application. However, the MYOB Business does not have the Journal Memo field. Hence, it defaults to the prefill for an empty Journal Memo field (Sale; Customer Name). I recommend posting this as a suggestion to the Business Product Ideas Board for the developers to see."

I have tried to get around it by printing a customer sales (detail) report, however the description field is blankI can't see any other work around.  Does anyone know if there is something I can generate, instead of having to go through invoices manually?

Many thanks.

Many thanks.

  • Hi guys, I have found a way around looking for a report that shows entries in the description field. We were looking for a site address that was entered in the description field on the invoices.

Go to reporting - reports - journal entries - Customise your dates and expand all. Then the "important thing" click on Customise - in there is a drop down menu called Select columns to display, click on select all and apply. This will show you a field called line description, it is the third from the bottom which shows entries in description field in invoices. I find it easiest to export to excel and search in excel for relevant info.

Thanks for posting this AngeOD.  Hopefully someone at MYOB will get around to fixing the issue with the Customer Sales (Detail) report.  I raised two years ago now.

    Hi DexT17,

If you’ve already tried clearing the cache and the workaround, but things are still off, best to give our Live Chat team a buzz via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount. They’ll dig in and help get things back on track for you. Happy to sort it out together!

    Regards,

    Hi Earl_HD

    Good day

I just wanted to follow up on my earlier query. It appears that MYOB lite may fundamentally flawed, as it has failed to address longstanding issues. Continuing to offer this product in its current state risk wasting client's time, money and effort. I believed this warrants serious consideration and action.

    Looking forward to your response

    Hi Earl_HD

I've already cleared my browser's cache, but the description still shows up blank. Is there another workaround for this?

    Hi DexT17,

Thanks for raising this! We’re aware that when you run the Customer Sales Detail report in MYOB Business for any period, the description column on the invoices shows up blank, even though there are line descriptions on the actual invoices. I also checked the General Ledger report on my end and was able to see the transaction description there.

It’s definitely worth clearing your browser’s cache and history to see if that helps. If the issue sticks around after that, just reach out to our team so we can take a closer look for you. You can reach them on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount.

    Regards,
    Earl

    Hi All,

    Good Day

I’m a new user, but I’m still encountering this issue.

The description field does not appear in the following reports:

    Customer Sales (Detail)

    Purchases (Detail)

    General Ledger

Has this issue already been resolved? If not, is there any known workaround to display the descriptions correctly?

    Looking forward to your advice.

    Hi KathyH61,

Thank you so much for your post and my apologies for the late response.

We understand that when generating the Customer Sales (Detail) report, the Description field doesn't display the expected information. We've brought this issue to the attention of the relevant team, although we don't currently have an estimated timeline for its resolution. Please be assured that our corporate team is actively addressing this concern, and we hope to include a fix in an upcoming update.

Feel free to post again if you have further queries and one of us will be happy to assist you.
    Regards,
    Earl
