Adding trading name to invoices and receipts

Hi,

When a customer receives an invoice or a payment receipt from us, we can edit the email text, but the problem we have is that the top part of the email lists our Company Name but not our Trading Name.

E.g. INV-00012345 for $35.20 from ABC Nominees Pty Ltd.

We want either:
INV-00012345 for $35.20 from ABC Nominees Pty Ltd trading as Acme Studios.

or

INV-00012345 for $35.20 from Acme Studios.

I can see it is using the Company name in the settings, but this changes out company file name and we'd prefer not to do that.

Any tips or fixes here?

  • Hi Princess,

I think you misunderstand where I want to update.

I've set templates up that appear as PDFs attached to the emails for invoices, but I want to change the email business / trading name.

      Hi daniel_bcd

Thanks for clarifying, from what you’ve shown, you’re referring to the business name that appears in the invoice email itself, not the PDF form/template.

At the moment, that name is tied to the business/company name used for the invoice email, so there isn’t a separate setting to show a different trading name only in that “from” section. The current workaround would be to update the business name in your settings, but I understand that may not suit if you need to keep the legal/company file name unchanged.

If having a separate trading name shown there would help, I’d recommend adding it to the Ideas board so our product team can review it as a feature request.

    Hi daniel_bcd,

Thanks for letting us know what you’d like to see.

From what you’ve shared, you’d like your trading name to show at the top of your invoices/receipts. That top section is controlled by the details included in the template content, when you set up your forms. If you tick trading name in the template content, it may give you the option to show:

    • Just the trading name
    • Just the business name
    • Or the trading name with the business name underneath it

If that’s not quite what you’re after, and you’re wanting a different layout, it’d be a great feature suggestion to add on our Ideas board.

    Cheers,

    Princess
