Business Verification

We've received an email about verifying our business for secure invoicing.

 

We don't use any of the online invoicing options and have no plans to. 

Do we still need to go through the verification process?

By verifying will there be any changes to our invoice setup?

Will we have to set up our system/invoices so that none of the online payment options appear on the invoices?

    I am a small business and at a glance over your web page, the information you require from me/my business is both onerous and invasive. I use MYOB for debtors, creditors and payroll. I receive EFT direct payment from my customers and have no interest in using MYOB financial services beyond that at this stage. I also send out too many invoices for your alternate solution of downloading and emailing individually to be practical. May have no choice but to change accounting packages.
    Very disappointed with this draconian imposition. You're an accounting software company, not a 1960s Soviet despot regime.

      Hi JBKK , after completing the business verification you have the ability to change your settings so that the payments feature fits with the needs of your business.
      You can choose to have it enabled or disabled when sending invoices.
      And of course, when your customers receive the invoice, if payments is enabled they can also still choose what method of payment. Providing more options makes it easier for your customers to pay you (and faster)
      The verification itself is intentionally rigorous to ensure that the distribution of invoices using MYOB software can only occur from legitimate businesses which takes a great step forwards in protecting Australian businesses and consumers from invoice fraud

    I also feel this is too extreme for small businesses, especially having to provide so much private information about the business and the owners, when we are not wanting to use the online payment platform.   I understand the need for verification for businesses that want to use the online payment services but for those that dont, they are losing out on an important function in myob.

    Hi annbrinck,

    Secure invoicing is an upgrade for all MYOB merchants who do not yet have the online payment service on their software. This service will add more options for you to get paid, including payment via Credit Card, E-Wallets, and BPay. We understand if some merchants do not want to use the online payment service; that's why we made our settings flexible, allowing you to disable the service once verification is completed.
     

    However, if you choose not to upgrade, the feature for emailing invoices from the software will be stopped. This means you will be unable to send invoices directly from the software. Nevertheless, you can still download the PDF copy of the invoice and send it using Outlook, Gmail, or any other email tool you use.

      @ Earl

      One of the business owners that has been prepopulated is a foreign national, so we are unable to supply the necessary forms of identification (i.e. Australian Passport or Drivers licence).  Which means we are unable to verify.

      So what happens now? 

       

      I am going on leave tomorrow and need this resolved asap. Your urgent attention would be appreciated.

        You can review this help article for what forms of ID can be accepted.
        It does say that a foreign issued passport is acceptable.

        If you have only just been notified of the upgrade then you should have 30 days to complete this.

      In the same boat, we don't use MYOB via online/browser, we use the DESKTOP version. Do we still need to verify our business even though we have 2FA long in security set up?

      Seems too extreme for the smaller business.

I receive EFT direct payment from my customers and have no interest in using MYOB financial services beyond that at this stage. I also send out too many invoices for your alternate solution of downloading and emailing individually to be practical. May have no choice but to change accounting packages.
Very disappointed with this draconian imposition. You're an accounting software company, not a 1960s Soviet despot regime.

I also feel this is too extreme for small businesses, especially having to provide so much private information about the business and the owners, when we are not wanting to use the online payment platform.   I understand the need for verification for businesses that want to use the online payment services but for those that dont, they are losing out on an important function in myob.

Secure invoicing is an upgrade for all MYOB merchants who do not yet have the online payment service on their software. This service will add more options for you to get paid, including payment via Credit Card, E-Wallets, and BPay. We understand if some merchants do not want to use the online payment service; that's why we made our settings flexible, allowing you to disable the service once verification is completed.

However, if you choose not to upgrade, the feature for emailing invoices from the software will be stopped. This means you will be unable to send invoices directly from the software. One of the business owners that has been prepopulated is a foreign national, so we are unable to supply the necessary forms of identification (i.e. Australian Passport or Drivers licence).  Which means we are unable to verify.

So what happens now? 

 

I am going on leave tomorrow and need this resolved asap. Your urgent attention would be appreciated.

In the same boat, we don't use MYOB via online/browser, we use the DESKTOP version. Do we still need to verify our business even though we have 2FA long in security set up?

Seems too extreme for the smaller business.
