Change category types of an account

I want to change the category types of an account from Expenses to Cost of Sales. At the Chart of Accounts menu, the category of types is displayed with grey-highlighted and it does not seem to change it simply. Please let me know if there is any method to change the category of types of an account.

    Hey frank17,

     

    When an account already has transactions, the system locks the Type field which is why you’re seeing it greyed out and can’t switch it from Expenses to Cost of Sales. A workaround would be to set up a new account under Cost of Sales and start recording everything there moving forward. Pop in a journal entry to shift the existing balance from the old account into the new one so everything stays tidy and accurate. You can check out this link for more info.

      Hi Doreen,

       

      Thank you for your reply. I thought there was a possibility that there is a higher rank of login account such administrator account, and it was possible to change the category types of the account.

      If there is no such a method, I agree with you about the procedures to address this issue. I appreciate your instruction.

       

      I leave this inquiry for a while to such an answer would be allowed that there would be a method with something like changes with administrator account.
