New MYOB App doesn’t accept text entered on computer

If I enter an invoice on my computer, when I go to edit it on the new MYOB App, I get an error that certain text characters aren’t allowed. I have to go and edit each field laboriously before I can save the invoice. Please fix this bug.

    Hi professormac,

Thank you for raising this. Are you still experiencing the issue? We’ve encountered this before and managed to fix similar cases. If it’s still occurring, please reply with a screenshot so we can take a closer look for you.

    Regards,

    Hey professormac

That error can be caused if your business name contains special characters (like &, %, $, #, @, commas, emojis, or other symbols).

We're working on a fix for this, but until then you can either:

    • share the invoice via your phone's email app – view the invoice, tap Share and select your email app
    • remove the special characters from your business name (sign into MYOB in the browser > settings ⚙️ > Business settings > Business details tab).

    Thanks for the response Amanda.

The problem isn't caused by special characters in my business name. It's caused by special characters in the description field of one of the items on the invoice which was created in the web browser on a computer. The new MYOB mobile App chokes on this character and gives the error. Please fix the App so that all invoice fields accept the entire character set, just like your website does on a computer. In my case, the character it choked on was "—" (option-dash, or long-dash).

  • Hello AmandaMYOB, I have been having this issue as well and its very frustrating. I know its not my business name as its just "The Easy Club" but maybe its my notes where i add my Terms & Condition and/or description but never an issue on the web browser. When will this issue be fixed and is your recommendation constantly re-write my terms & Conditions/Description without punctuation or special characters until it works and doesn't highlight what is the issue? That seems extremely unreasonable with my information and layout i need to provide for clients and myself.

    Thank you.

  • Hey Liam_B

We are looking into a fix for the special characters error experienced when entering invoices in the MYOB Assist app. I don't have a definitive time frame as to when this fix will be released, but I will make sure to keep you all updated here as soon as I have more information.
