My RDP Server 2022 hosting clients who use MYOB online stopped seeing online files

Hi MYOB

These changes at this time of the year are causing chaos - even if we have the skillset to fix and roll back or get around things temporarily - but this morning my client RDP hosting many clients who run MYOB could not see their online files from the server.

MYOB SE AR was still showing 2026.5.0 - but clearly an update was rolled to turn it into an offline utility only.

Yet the same install on my laptop at home = SE AR 2026.5.0 - could see the online files - something is not right !!!!!

All my clients were left dead - and with me trying to explain what was happening.

I checked the install markings on the installation and whilst the working was .xxxxx015, the new was .xxx022 - something changed.

Luckily, due to a problem 26 June I had that install saying AR SE 2026.5 - but it was different from the 1 Jul 26 AR SE 2026.5 I have just downloaded from MYOB - so I reinstalled the 26 June version and voila my files and clients files all back online and visible.

A temporary fix undoubtedly MYOB .. .please explain.

Here is a question I need answered really quickly - will the AR PC version 2026.5, 2026.6 ... etc run on a Windows RDP Server - MYOB is not the only reason to be hosted in the cloud.

I need to experiment - hopefully, likely it will run on the Server - but if not - we have a huge problem of what do we do with these clients - they have to resort back to local machines and regular windows updates -  something the Server RDP environment was used from the 90s and is still used.

  • Hi Folks

This fix bit me in the rear end ..... I didn't turn off updater.exe and the updater service immediately updated it back to .xxx023  - oops - but left xx.00015 installed.

Fix - turn off update by renaming update.exe - and goto public desktop MYOB SE AR icon - properties - and change startup and location directory //xx.00023/  back to //xx.00015/  and it all back online.
