The option is no longer there as offline backups is no longer an available option in MYOB AccountRight. From 17 June 2026, MYOB AccountRight desktop app (PC edition) will only work with company files stored online. Offline mode will no longer be available, and from version 2026.5 (PC edition) you’ll no longer be able to open, edit or save files stored locally (in My Library or Network Library).
*You'll still be able to view offline backups in previous AccountRight versions for audit requirements
Your company file will need to be stored online to use the latest version of AccountRight. You will still be able to take backups of your file through online backups. Each week, MYOB automatically backs up online company files that have had changes in the previous 7 days meaning you can relax knowing we're saving regular point-in-time versions of your online company file that you can roll back to if needed. You can also manually create online backups whenever you like and name them appropriately. These will be accessible along with the automatically created ones.
What if a larger company with say 50 or more invoices a day makes an online backup every few hours or say 20 per week..is that OK with MYOB?
Plus why is it so hard for MYOB to allow local backups as well as online backups with the user choosing which one they want and thus be held accountable.
I use MS OneDrive but know some people treat it as their only backup for their work, I save my company work data every night, automated with a commercial software to a NAS. Not giving your customers the choice just doesn't make sense especially as the support services as discussed here just isn't coping. I would hate to have some disaster occur meaning I need to restore my file from a backup only to find out every seven days wasn't regular enough for my needs.

You are so out of touch with your user base it is unbelievable.
This is ridiculous!!! We save our MYOB backups locally as we then extract the data into a custom made program to run financial reports on a weekly basis. How can we back up locally please? We do not want to back up to the new system!!!

this isn't really very helpful especially when MYOB doesn't even tell us how to retrieve our backups from the so called cloud. i think MYOB need to reinstate the option to do Backups offline.

If you backup to the cloud automatically or manually - if you select 'Restore' it will show you all your backups done 'in the cloud' - the cloud backup is simply another repository that really isn't the cloud - it is space on some drive in some datacentre keeping your backups.
If you have 'local backup selected' as I can do in the SE version - when you select 'Restore' it will show all available backups - locally you have done to select from on the drive of your last local backup.

And data centers can't be hacked! I would rather keep my backups on a external hard drive where I know they are safe. And MYOB are only keeping our backups for 6 months which is also not acceptably.

Can you advise if we can move our files from standard AccountRight to Account Right SE on our local PCs & have this capacity to take backups? I believe some users are using SE on their local machines.
If so, can you provide instructions on how to complete this?
When this change occurred, I honestly thought it was only for those users that did NOT have a fully paid current subscription. I did not understand that local backups were not going to be available seeing we had that option within Preferences / Security. I must admit that I am very disappointed that this was not made clear to users & especially your bookkeeping community.
It is likely to be something that MYOB would consider reinstating?
Secondly - how long does MYOB keep these weekly backups for? How do we access them? Is there a fee involved in retrieving these backups?

we do our backups daily not weekly, so why did MYOB change the option to do manual backups and store them on a external media?
