Hi, This all came on to our system today and we were using SE edition, so now we can only use the online version or the PC edition - we did not know this was going to happen. As MYOB only backs up once a week, this is not enough to ensure data integrity, data retention and the chance of so much data being corrupted between back ups could be very high. We need to continue the local backup option so we can go back to previous years files for whatever the business reason. How are we supposed to open any back up made from now onwards if we can only use 2026.4 on the SE version? If we need to review an older file online how can we ensure our online file is not overwritten by opening a backup file? I am not even sure at this time how to access a backup file. This process takes away the fundamentals of a business being able to review and provide past data when required; it is up to the business how they utilise their data, I don't believe the software company should have the overarching authority for this. Same with other queries, if a business chooses to change software providers how do they access their data to move to another service?
Yes totally agree and the help line don't really know what is going on. I discovered after umpteen hrs! Use SE version & you can backup off line (like we could before). Yes you can open a backup to look at previous data, but restore it to your c drive. Yes agree weekly backups not enough. I'm doing my own & at least I can work on import / exports on the offline version. BUT have no idea how I would put my offline backup onto the cloud to override the live file. Yes if you restore an older file online it will overwrite the initial file, you need to backup before you restore online. It all gets quite confusing who is doing what & accessing. Hope some of this helps.
So further to this post which was only two days ago & was working yesterday. Today using the SE for the online files is NO LONGER. Looks like MYOB is monitoring our posts just so they can make it as difficult as possible for us to do business. #%^&* plus more to this update. Not happy myob. still early in the new FY where i have to start a brand new file for a client, at this stage looks like QB.
I can tell you how to fix that very simply - AR SE has been updated in the last few days to not able to see the online facility ...... SE will still be there - you have been updated overnight to 2026.5.0 - the working version is still 2026.5.0 - but it is still on your computer and I can tell you simply how to fix that.
Right click the shortcut on your desktop in the 'target line' it will include .......\AccountRightServerEdition\app-2026.500.10023\Huxley.... etc
Change the 23 back to 15 ie .10015
Do this also in the Start in: line - change it back to 10015
Apply and close - you will now be able to see and open online files still in version 2026.5 and offline files.
However, this next step is very important else auto-updater will reapply it - go to the following directory...
C:\Program Files (x86)\MYOB\AccountRightServerEdition and in that directory you will see a file called
Update.exe - rename this to Update.exe_ you don't want this to run.
That is it.
