Journal entry dates

Why is the default general entry date As at today’s date as virtually no journals I dated on the day they prepared. The date should be either the last date used as they  are normally done at month or year end.. or if this is not possible to have no default at all forcing the user to enter the correct journal date for each entry

    Hi applus,

I've tried to replicate this issue and did not encounter any problems. The date that will reflect in our system is the correct journal date. I recommend clearing your AccountRight cache to avoid any software discrepancies.

    • I know it shows the correct journal that I input, but why does it not default to that same date for the next journal entry, as we always have several journal entries to post as at the same month end date, or year end date. To default to today's date after posting one journal entry is very archaic. It is often too easy to overlook changing the date of the journal entry when posting it, which means that the transactions end up in the wrong period.

If this can't easily be changed, it would even be better to have NO default date at all, forcing the user to enter the correct date for each journal entry.

        Hey tonymac,

The default journal is set to today's date to streamline same-day entries, but this may not suit end-of-month or year-end transactions. Be sure to adjust manually and double-check the date for accuracy.

        Cheers,
