ATO invalid

Have a staff member who has given their TFN, however MYOB is saying it is invalid.  She has shown me the paperwork from the ATO so I know the number is correct. Not sure what to do.

Thank you

Thank you for your reply. I think your suggestion has worked but will wait for the next pay run to be sure.

    I appreciate your help.

  • Hi Malvena1995,

That’s a bit rough, especially since you’ve already double-checked the ATO paperwork and the TFN there looks right. No worries though, let’s try a few quick checks to sort it out:

    • Head back to the employee’s payroll details and make sure the TFN is entered exactly right
    • Double-check their date of birth, some validations use DoB and a small typo can cause issues
    • Make sure their employment type is correct and a tax table is selected
    • Delete the TFN, save the card, then re‑enter the 9 digits manually and save again

I also found this post about invalid TFNs, give it a skim to see if it helps.

    Cheers,

    Princess
