Matching Multiple payroll payments to one payrun

Hi, sorry very new to MYOB and wondering how to match two payments made to an employee for a single payrun pleae?

  • Hi Tarnya,

Thanks for your post. You have two options here. First, you can reverse and reprocess the payroll into two different transactions. Alternatively, you can create journal entries to match the bank feeds to the payroll (for this option, I recommend consulting with a financial advisor).

Additionally, I recommend visiting this help article Matching Bank Transactions and this post Matching payroll across two transactions in bank feed, which provide solutions for similar issues.

Feel free to post again, we're happy to help!

    Regards,
    Earl

    Hi LisaL2,

Fair point. Part matching would definitely make things more practical, especially if you’ve got employees who need their pay split across multiple accounts. I can also understand why you’d want better visibility around where the payroll balance is sitting from an accounting point of view. This link has some payroll clearing scenarios you can try as well, aside from the steps mentioned earlier.

For the accounting side of it, it’s still best to check with your accountant or bookkeeper so the setup matches the way your file is configured and how you need it reported. Your feedback around split payments and part matching makes a lot of sense. It’d be worth adding to our Ideas board so others can support it too.

    Cheers,

    Princess

Hi MYOB, that is such a clumsy way to allocate payment of wages.  It is not uncommon for employees to request that their pay is paid into multiple bank accounts (eg the mortgage, spousal support etc).  Why can't an employee's pay be "part-matched" to the pay transaction?  This is one of the most DUMBEST rules in MYOB, and you're clocking up a lot of DUMB ways to run accounting software at the moment.   P.S.  when the payroll is generated, in double-entry accounting (and I presume this is how MYOB works), the debit side of the transaction goes to an expense code.  Where does the credit entry sit?  The unpaid wages does not appear to sit anywhere on my balance sheet.  Why are they not recognised as a liability?
