Travel Allowance not showing in this period on STP report, but is in YTD period

Hi there

I have processed a travel allowance in a current payroll.

The STP report to the ATO doesn't show the allowance in the 'this period' section of the report ie: the current payroll.

But it appear does in the 'YTD' section.

Any clues as to why/how I see it in both sections?

Many thanks

Lisa

    Hi Lisa

With STP it's the YTD amounts that are important as these are the amounts that the ATO take from the reports and push through to our myGov accounts. So if you're reconciling STP when processing each payrun you do need to reconcile the YTD amounts, not the pay period amounts.

If you're checking the current payrun has been recorded correctly I'd suggest using the AccountRight payroll reports. This will allow you to check that the correct allowance payroll categories have been used. The STP reports filter by the ATO reporting category assigned to the payroll category so as long as you don't make any changes to the payroll category it should always report correctly through STP.

  • Hi LMCob

Thanks for your post. The This period section of the payrun report is the employer section for that pay period, the YTD section is the employee YTD amounts. To check if that allowance has been reported correctly can you go to the EOFY finalisation tab and run the YTD verification report and the Summary of payments report (click on the ellipsis for that employee) and check the allowance is reported correctly in those reports.

Please let me know how you go with this.

      Hi Tracey

Many thanks for your response.  Yes it's all reported correctly there and in the YTD section of the payrun too.

I'm still confused though why it's not shown in the This Period section if the allowance is paid in This Period?

All of the allowances categories appear in both sections.

The YTD figures don't really help me if I want to check the current payrun, and have multiple pays for the same person with different allowances each pay.

      Any clues? :-)

      Cheers

      Lisa
