Cost Centres and preferences - not showing in web browser

Hi, I'm unable to see an option to allocate a cost centre on new transactions in the web browser. There is not even a list of cost centres available. Is it just me or is it the browser version of Myob? I've set up new cost centres in my desktop app. I also cannot see where to change preferences in the browser.
Is it just me?

    Hi CarolDuncan,

You're welcome and thank you for sharing your perspective.

I'm glad to hear that you found the clarification helpful, and you make a valid point about the term "chart of accounts" being a standard bookkeeping term. Your feedback helps us understand how we can better align our terminology with industry standards.

If my previous response has answered your inquiry, would you consider selecting "Accept as Solution" to help other users find this information?

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

    Cheers,

    Princess

Thanks gavin12345 - glad its not just me :-)

Even Xero still uses the term 'Chart of Accounts' and transaction accounts are grouped and categorised :-D
Double whammy of confusion then occurs because the Accountright users had cost centres called categories. (Why they didn't get called cost centres from the start?). Standardised language avoids confusion.

Dumbing down makes everyone 'think' they are capable of doing their own books, no matter their skill level which is absolutely not true.

I'm a loooooong time Myob user and still think the desktop app is one of the better ones though.

So disappointing that you still can't manage to use Categories in the browser version & we are restricted to the desktop one. I have a client who has 6 cost centres (all coded by non accountants - volunteers) and the browser option would be so much easier for them all to access.

dmb68I'm sure Myob will get there eventually. As yet there are still place that the word Category has not been replaced with Cost Centre which could be confusing for some - especially if the word 'category' is being used as a descriptor for something completely different in the system per my original comment.

Has this been fixed yet.  MYOB mentioned that they were working on it and yet at least 3 years from the first post about this (in another feed) and still no fix.

    It would appear not!

    • Still no cost centre functionality - cannot create them, or allocate them - in the browser app.
    • I also suggested that a cost centre column be inserted next to the job column in all transactions so they can be applied to individual lines rather than only to the whole transaction. The cost centre functionality is very limited because of the way it is currently processed.

    Hi Carol,

I have the same issue re the cost centre & am still using the desktop version for this reason.  If you are entering invoices into the browser version how do you get around the cost centre part, as I get a message saying I need to enter one.

  • Thanks Carol for replying.  Very frustrating indeed, hopefully one day MYOB might add this in & then we can use it.
