Return to offline.

Hi all.

I am looking at going offline permanently. Back to when I 1st used MYOB.

$150 a month is too much especially as I originally purchased the programme years ago.

If I cancel subscription can I keep my data and still enter, update and save to hard drive?

I can transfer and calculate all ATO requirements as I previously did.

Businees too small for the $150 expense.

Karen .

  • Hi K1497

You should be able to do this as long as you definitely still have a perpetual licence for the AccountRight Desktop version. If you are using the file online, you will need to backup and restore locally. In order to prevent the programme from automatically updating to newer versions, then you need to try the following (this is an old post I copied so the version numbers will be different but the process is the same):

"Unfortunately MYOB are not going to change their policy just because users want them to. Now just as there are ways to stop Windows 10 automatic updates, there are also ways to stop MYOB automatic updates, or at least work around them.

I keep using AR2020.1 even though MYOB has updated itself to AR2021.4

Take a look where MYOB installs itself - in a folder called AccountRight in a path like this:

    C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\AccountRight

Inside that folder is another folder called app-2021.300.244119 or similar - this contains the files that run MYOB - AR2021.3.

Copy this folder app-2021.300.244119 and paste under C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\ and rename it to AccountRight 2021.3

Delete your desktop shortcut and create a new shortcut to HuxleyApplication.exe inside the new folder.

From this point your shortcut will run AR2021.3 even though MYOB Updates to AR2021.4 or .5 etc

When you are ready to upgrade, repeat the above and create a folder for AccountRight 2021.4 etc and change the shortcut to the next version."

MYOB does say that you can keep upgrading for free but they could change the terms and conditions later, so as long as you have a perpetual licence, the current version should be able to continue to be used for the foreseeable future.

You should then be able to cancel your subscription through your myMYOB account.

    Cheers

    Liz

You most likely need to ask on here using the last 4 digits of your Serial Number, plus your File ID.

Liz, what are MYOB users options given we have been advised that Perpetual Licences for AccountRight V19.15 or earlier will be retired on 26/02/26 and be converted to Read-Only?

    Hi RuffyBlue

I haven't received this advice but they did try this a number of years ago and were threatened with a Class Action. I'm guessing there aren't enough users with the Perpetual Licences now for this to happen again so I suggest you contact FGH Tables to see if they can help if this.

    Cheers
