Offline Backups

Come on MYOB reinstate the offline backup option for online files.  Case in point was the Telstra outage.  If the internet goes down we can't work.  With the uneasy state of world affairs at present we need control over our own data

Yes once again MYOB proving they can slide further and further from being relevant to any business in Australia 

it is my company file and i expect to be able to back up for security purposes 

With MYOBs Disgraceful track record how could i ever trust them to keep online back up only secure or available 

I raised this issue a few years ago as I also am not comfortable not having the capacity to retain my own backup file.

I also mentioned that for some companies this would be a breach of data management protocol having both the master and a backup held essentially in the same place - its akin to having the lock and the key together !!!!

My understanding from discussions with my account is that you absolutely do have your data written over. 

I don't understand why I in the past I have been able to choose if I wanted to back up to the cloud or locally and now I cannot.  This system suited me just fine; I could have the cloud on most occasions and keep a local back up at least once a month just in case.  We have seen multiple examples of security breaches in large companies recently.  I would feel much safer if I could put a ring around a local back just in case of a MYOB security breach. 

MYOB needs to stop telling customer what they SHOULD WANT and listen to what the DO WANT.  I want the ability to locally backup.  I know the software supported this not that long ago - reinstate that functionality asap please!

I access 3 company files 99% of the time online, but wish to keep backups offline for security and future reference 

With MYOBs Disgraceful record of support and retrograde progress, how could I ever trust them with MY company back up files only being kept online 

Please at least try and do at least one thing right and restore the offline back up option

This is why I haven't moved my clients to Xero - no backups.  Most people need to save a backup after each financial year completed.  A snapshot in time.  Online files now can be "manipulated" going years back.  Clients forget to turn on the audit trail feature and then what?

MYOB keeps on backing up over files so there will be no way to open a backup from 30/6/2026 in the future.

Myob I have been a member for over 30 years and this year being forced to go online and then only being able to use Myob when you have internet cover, and although this doesn't happen often there is times when the internet is not working and this is incredibly frustrating.  We need to be able to backup our data on other platforms other than MYOB Cloud base for our own security also we need to give this information to our accountant.  You removed this function without notifing you paying customers, this is a function we need to have and this needs to be rectified ASAP.

If the option of offline backups is not restored, I will investigate switching to Xero.  Why would MYOB take this away?

Thankfully this isn't an everyday occurrence, but there have been times when I've needed to open both the current data file and a backup copy to compare transactions line by line and identify where something went wrong.

A few questions regarding the removal of local backups:

• As things stand today, is the only way to access a backup data file through MYOB Support?
• What happens if we need access to multiple backup copies to investigate an issue over a period of time? For example, if we needed to review backups spanning a month, would they all be provided at once, or would we need to submit a separate request for each backup version? In other words, request the latest backup, then the next one, and so on.
• When a backup copy is restored, will it be possible to open that file at the same time as our current live data file for comparison purposes?
• If we are relying solely on MYOB's 7-day backup retention, and a worst-case scenario occurs requiring a rollback, does that mean we could potentially lose up to seven days' worth of data entry?

I'm keen to understand how these scenarios would be handled in practice, particularly for troubleshooting and recovery situations where access to historical versions is critical.
