I can't have 2 company files open at the same time anymore

Up until last week I was able to have 2 company files open at the same time on my desktop.  I would open one and then right click on the icon to open the other.  Now I get the below error message.  I am in and out of both company files throughout the day and even if I close one down and try to open the other I still get the same message.  I have to login to the online file and log out there.  What has changed?  How do I go back to having 2 files open at the same time on the desktop?

Error Message on desktop- Unable to open company file.  The company file is not registered to the AccountRight Live account that you are currently logged in to.

Hi, this has happened to myself also, so interested in the reason why and hopefully a solution, as it is very annoying and time consuming logging in and out multiple times a day.

Strange, I daily use 3 AR desktop files open at the same time? It should allow access via login to each file or if you are a partner and have both files linked to your account it should work. I would like to hear if you found a solution?

I have the same issue.  I use 3 files everyday, all day long and need to be able to switch quickly between them.

This has always easy until a recent update.  

MYOB PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!

No, this response did not help.

We, the users, actually need solutions to the problems we identify.

For those of us that run multiple businesses, it is critically important that we be able to switch seamlessly between files - meaning that we must be able to have multiple MYOB data files open at the same time.

Please sort this out.

PS-the answer is not to link files to our identity.  As the company files are totally independent, unrelated businesses, each one has a different identity.

Would you please explain how you do this.  After an update a couple of months ago, I was no longer able to do this.  No matter how I attempt it, I always get an error message that says

"Unable to open company file

This company file is not registered to the AccountRight Live account that you are currently logged in to."

If you are using AR desktop version with live data files.

Make sure you have the AR icon on your desktop. Dbl click the icon and log in to the first account.

Repeat the process from the icon for the subsequent data file.

 

Doing it any other way will just replace the first one.

 

OR - Login to the app.myob.com version and on the top right - Switch between companies. NB: The accounts need to be linked to the same login.

Hi, I finally managed to come up with a convoluted solution to open multiple data files at the same time.

 

>  Open up the first data file you want to work in

>  Then double click on the desktop MYOB Icon

>  Click on "Open a Company File" tab

>  Click on "Online" tab

>  Click on "Sign Out of Company File" you are currently in

>  Click on "My Library" tab, then click on "Online" tab again to get the "Sign in to MYOB" screen pop up

>  Type in credentials of the second data file

>  Click Open when the second data file shows up on screen

 

You should now have 2 data files open at the same time, this does work for 3 data files also.

 

Hope this helps.

 

Would love it if we could go back to just clicking on the MYOB icon to open multiple files like we could a month or so ago.
