Secure Invoicing

I have a few concerns about the new Secure Invoicing upgrade we are being basically forced to do.

We don't have online payments from our customers and probably never will. So now instead of emailing our invoices through MTOB we have to print to PDF and then send through Outlook for example. What if we have 50 invoices to send??

So how do we answer the upgrade questions when we don't have customer payments.

Further to this I don't understand why MYOB would need our turnover etc. What has this got to do with Secure Invoicing. MYOB just get around this question by advising of their Privacy Policy.

Emailing invoices from your MYOB file will only be restricted if you don't complete the business verification process. This page has more information on the documents and information required for the business verification process.

If you have any questions about or need help throughout the verification process, you can reach the team by raising a case from your My Account dashboard, make sure to select 'Financial Services' and the team will be able to reach out and assist accordingly.

Perhaps Amanda someone might be able to explain why we need to submit turnover? We pay for a service if we have 1 invoice or 1000 per month it is irrelevant.

They won't explain, well they do but its the scripted party line of security they are hiding behind.

I did however get a call back from someone supposedly higher up that agreed that the questions being asked are killing 2 birds with one stone, whilst being (cough cough) flexible and allowing us to opt out of the secure invoicing after giving them all the information they have no right to obtain from us in the first place!!. Turnover.. seriously, how does that relate to security in anyway.. And bank details.. they already have that.

Hi, We looked at Zero a couple of years ago and decided against it, but now it's looking like a better option. Why try to fix something that's working and upset business and customers. Mike

The issue people, including myself are having, is that MYOB are taking a fee for our invoices, and we have NO WAY TO OPT OUT

Anyone in the process of taking their company file off-line to resolve this emailing issue...

Be aware that you must turn off the option for AccountRight to handle emails prior to making your final offline backup file for use on your local HDD.

If you don't, you will find that even though you are using your file off-line, the option to turn off MYOB handling emails wont switch off and claims that turning it off is only an option to users with company files that are on-line. Ironic, don't you think?

This is what I would call a bug, because taking your file off-line means you can't use MYOB to send emails, yet turning the option off is exactly what taking your company file off-line should do.

Seems MYOB forgot to fix this little problem in their haste.

Also I am unable to locate MSI versions of the SERVER install.

MSI versions of the MYOB software do not automatically get updates.

However only the Client version of the software seems to have an MSI installer.

Which means, your SERVER version may update to newer versions, but your CLIENT versions do not.

This is a dangerous position to be in as it may mean you loose access to your file on your CLIENT PCs.

And because taking your file off-line means you can run without a subscription, you may find that your data file lags behind the server version, and ultimately becomes un-openable on the server also.

SO, MYOB needs to release the MSI version of the SERVER Install or the promise that they made to continue to use the software off-line (if you have a perpetual license) may be false.

Seeking MSI Server version of 2025.11.

Or a way to ensure the SERVER version does not auto-update.

Please could the moderators who work at MYOB provide a solution.

    Regards

I would like to mention for users who want to use their datafile off-line, a potential bug that may be a stumbling block if you are not careful.

I found that if I did not disable the emailing from within MYOB preferences prior to creating a local backup that is intended to be used as the active data file in an off-line manner, that it could not be turned off once in use because the software thinks it is a feature that is only available to on-line users, and so stops users toggling it on or off.

The result is that if you forget, and you no longer have access to your on-line file to create a new backup with the option disabled, that there will be no way to turn it off and therefore you wont be able to revert to MS Office as the email delivery method.

Also, discovered that if you have the NEW OUTLOOK installed as well as Classic, that it wont work. I had to uninstall the "New Outlook" (which appears in the APPS list as simply OUTLOOK) and manually set the Classic version as the default.

I am also trying to locate the MSI installer version of the Server Edition.

According to searches, it provides a manual approach to updates which may be important in a Server/Client environment.

I am hopeful that someone can point me to the MSI Server Version (preferably 2025.11).

    Regards

      Hi MYOBcritic,

Thanks heaps for taking the time to share all of that. You've clearly done some solid digging and it's great info for anyone working offline. Just to clear up the MSI bit: at the moment we don't have an MSI installer for the AccountRight Server Edition. All current versions are deployed using our standard installer, so there isn't a separate MSI server version available (including 2025.11). I know that's probably not the answer you were hoping for, especially in a server setup, but we do have a handy support article that explains the available install options and how updates work in these environments. You can check it out here: AccountRight MSI installation instructions.

      Regards,

      Sai

    Just take it off..............................................

Email MYOB and ask them to exempt you from online invoicing - refer to a msg above from Haire as to suitable wording (feedback@myob.com).  When I dealt with the Customer Resolutions Specialist, she was very understanding.   I explained that our business does not need online payments - we issue a small number of large value invoices each month & no business credit card would have a big enough limit to pay some of our invoices.  It sounds like that team are also very frustrated with the decision that has been made as it's making more work for them, so you just need to get past the muppets who monitor this forum who can only read from the company play-book.   If you don't hear back from them in a reasonable timeframe, contact Australian Financial Complaints Authority, and guaranteed you'll hear from MYOB within 24 hours.
