W1 Total salary, wages and other payments does not equal payroll Register or Payroll Activity summary total.

I am trying to work out why there is a difference between the "W1 Total salary, wages and other payments" total, which, for August, autogenerates to $144,788 on the Activity Statement, whereas the "Payroll Activity Summary" and "Payroll Register" reports both display a total of $178,430.65. The higher figure is correct. I have checked the Payroll Categories allocations and they appear to be correct. How can I identify how the W1 total is calculated when I raise the activity statement?

This is not new. Every month I need to over-type the W1 total before submitting a BAS to get the right figure. I need to work out what is incorrectly set up so I can fix it.

    Hi TheRob

    Thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I understand how important the activity statement is for any business. There are a couple of customers that reported the same issue, the BAS portal seems to not include all payroll categories of the file in the report. Investigation into this issue is currently being done. In the meantime, we recommend manually entering the figures or doing a manual BAS reporting.

We appreciate your patience in this matter. Let us know if you require any other assistance. We're happy to help.

    Cheers,

  • Hi.  Has this issue been rectified.  My W1 is only showing 2 months not the 3 months for quarterly reporting.  Thanks, Tess

    Hi TessMettro

    Thanks for posting your concern,

In my understanding, if your BAS frequency is set for quarterly the report should include values for all 3 months. Since this is auto-filled data, I'm assuming that you create your BAS report using the Online BAS. I would suggest opening the setting to see if all the values in W1 are included and clicking the Update from Ledger button.

If this does not correct any of the values, please send me a private message containing screenshots and we'll investigate further.

If you have any other concerns, feel free to post again in the forum. We're happy to help.

    Thanks,

    Genreve

Hi, thanks for your comments. I'd love to send you a private message but can't figure out how to do it.

As an overview, I have 3 sources of information. The Taxes total is correct on all 3 but the Wages Totals disagree:

    1) The Payroll Activity Summary for the period 1/9/2023 to 30/9/2023 on my desktop version MYOB, gives a total of about $182k

    2) the BAS reporting function on-line steps through the Setup, GST report, prior period adjustments and when I get to the Finalise report, the W1 total is also $182k

    3) On the desktop version, which is where I usually process my BAS, I choose Accounts>Prepare BAS>Prepare Stattement>Select the Sep 30 Period End and there, the W1 Total is 119645

Usually, I overtype the W1 figure with the figure extracted from the report. What should I do to fix so it matches the other two reporting options?
