Forum Discussion
Hi Bronwyn, I will try and cover your questions here and also in your second post (here) with one response.
There is a distinction between a backup you already have. And then backups in the future.
If you already have an offline backup stored somewhere, then you can open this to view it in either AccountRight Server Edition, or in a version of AccountRight PC edition earlier that 2026.5.
Going forward, backups are done online. Customers can export their data using report packs from the browser, and then would have the data readily available with no need to consider restoring backups.
The other solution I have mentioned is that customers could request a server backup retrieval from MYOB for $49.95. As of today, if that backup was taken from a file operating in AccountRight 2026.6 or beyond, there would not be a way to open and view the backup, this is something that we are looking into.
For 7 year reporting purposes, customers are covered.
- Existing offline backup, can be opened in a software that still supports offline mode
- New online backups
- While there is an active subscription, the full history of the file can be viewed via the browser, no backup needed.
- Before ending a subscription, use report packs to export your company data.
- If an offline backup is requested from MYOB, this can be provided to customers, but cannot be viewed without a subscription
For the production company example, they can use report packs before they cancel.
There is also the option for a low cost read only subscription that would be offered by the cancellations team or they could pay for the server backup retrieval for record keeping.
Thanks Mike. Would you please guide me to the report packs instructions so I can check it out for a file I will be canceling this month? We didn’t upgrade the file to 2026.5 and have redownloaded 2026.4 but when attempting to access MYOB simply states we must upgrade b4 we can open the file.

Thanks BronwynHamster , you can find out about report packs here
If you have a backup of this file you can open it in server edition as an option.
We also updated PC edition to have a 'open previous version' button now when you try and open a file.
You should be able to do this until we have released 2026.6 as a way of opening and using 2026.4- Veejays15 days agoExperienced Cover User
I'm on Premier PC edition and it doesn't give me the Open Previous Version button? Has it perhaps not been rolled out yet? My updates are up to date. Build 2026.5.1.23. I'm guessing we can't work in 2026.4 because it would have the old tax tables, etc but we could use it to open a past backup we already have offline?

Hi Veejays , Im including a screenshot below
This is in the 'open a company file' screen that you will see the 'open previous version' button.
This is best suited for customers with an offline file and no subscription, it provides a short term option to essentially 'delay' moving online.
If you want to open a post offline backup, I would recommend installing Server edition from our downloads page, and this software is now exclusively offline only and will not have any further updates.
As long as the backup file you have is from an AccountRight version 2026.4 or earlier, this will open in server edition

Hi Mike,
Are report packs available running MYOB on the Desktop?
Also, I can't see how report packs would download all attachments saved in the MYOB file.

Hi BronwynHamster , the report packs are only available via the browser and not desktop.
Attachments are not included with those exports, but it is possible to request a bulk download of in-tray attachments from MYOB at no cost up to 1 year after cancellation.
Also note that attachments and intray are both only available with online files, so was not a feature with offline files.
There is a 3rd party who is active on the forum, who offer export services you could also take a look at here
