MYOB DESKTOP ON THE GO

I have to do some travelling to another country shortly.  I currently used AccountRight but use it in the DESKTOP version for my business. I have used Desktop for 30 years and will retire in 6months so don't want to learn browser version at this point of my career. (I'm way too old)

Please give me your opinions on how to access my desktop from o/s.  Should I buy a laptop or can I load MYOB desktop onto an ipad? If so, is there a size requirement?  Don't want to have the business expense of either a laptop or an ipad at this point in my career, however I do have/use an iphone, so would probably prefer an ipad.

Or.......  should I just "suck it up buttercup" and learn browser in 10 days!?

Many thanks
Gem

    Hi Gem159

I can see how that would be something to think about when you're traveling. If you want the full AccountRight desktop version while you're away, a Windows laptop is the better option.

You can't install the desktop app on an iPad. If your file is online, you can still sign in on an iPad, tablet or phone using your browser at app.myob.com.

If you're only travelling for a short time and mainly need day-to-day access, the browser version may be enough. But if you rely on features that you normally use on desktop, or you'd rather stick with the layout you're already comfortable with, a Windows laptop will give you the closest match.

    So the short version is:

    • iPad = browser access only
    • Windows laptop = desktop app or browser
    • Browser can work well for short-term access, but desktop is still the better fit if you want the most familiar experience

I hope that helps you decide before your trip.

    Regards,

    Hi Gem159

Never too old to learn new tricks - I am well over 60s and still learning new tricks and software - the online version will work if you only going for a few days - it works but it is not as intuitive as the desktop version

There is another option and way more secure - if you know someone with a Server 2022 that can give you a profile on the server and a vpn access - then you simply vpn into the server - RDP and just run MYOB all from your ipad.

    Regards The Doc

Thanks for your advice, I will do a little investigation into both iPads and laptops and go from there.

Thank you so much for your reply.  Don't know anyone with a Server 2022 unfortunately.  Have been trying to use Browser this morning and have managed to get scanned documents in my tray via email.  So pretty chuffed to have been able to do that!  Learning Curve level engaged!!! ha-ha
