I've just been locked out of our perpetual licence datafile, which we fully paid for.
Would you urgently please advise how we can continue to use our datafile offline.
We need to be able to access as well as edit, not just view.

There are a number of posts on here that show what you can do (other than using Server Edition) if you want other options. Search recent posts by Gavin12345 & Random_nuggets to see whether these options are more suitable.

Thank you Liz. The information here on this forum is totally different to the information I got from MYOB when trying to open our datafile this morning. How is this not extortionist behaviour?
There is no guarantee that Server Edition will continue working due to Windows and /or MYOB updates? I did try a fix I read here in the forum, by modifying update.exe, but obviously this didn't work as MYOB tried to coerce me into a paid subscription (see above).
I downloaded Server Edition this morning, and all is working well for the time being.
Are you (or anyone else) allowed to tell me a fix that does work? I'd prefer not to get MYOB updates at all if this means that I can continue using my paid, perpetual licence as I should be able to.

The modification of the Update.exe won't work for v 2026.5. It needs to be on the previous v 2026.4. If you need your file reversed from 2026.5 then this post from Gavin12345 will give you a possible solution:
Apparently it can be reversed - those who have inadvertently upgraded their company file and their software to AR2026.5, even if its online - the entire process can be reversed. The user can go back to offline, AR2026.4 etc if they want to. Just need to talk to the right people. Try FGH Tables.

Otherwise, if you do want to stay offline and don't want to use SE then you will need to go through a bit of a messy process:
1 uninstall the latest version
2 download the last version your files were in (v2026.4)
3 disconnect the internet before you install and then use the process described here to stop the auto updates:

4 Continue processing without auto updates (reconnect the internet)
If any files have been updated to online versions, you will need to restore your last backup in the offline version and re-enter or continue from the last entry.

Thank you for your help Liz. MYOB is no longer offering v2026.4 - I haven't been able to find it anyway and I doubt MYOB would be letting people do this to get around things. I've been asking AI and it's a lot more complicated. MYOB has a hard coded internal expiry date and it can instantly change the system to read only. The real fix apparently is to use an offline PC with no internet and with the Windows clock wound back and probably, as you said, using v 2026.4. You'd want to use a PC that doesn't matter if you break it. Whether that's a true fix I don't know. But logically, I don't think MYOB's IT team would be phased by someone typing bak or disabled on an update file. MYOB would have covered all possible scenarios.
