How to back up/make read only

Hi MYOB team,

I have closed my business and need to make my file read only/ and or have a copy on my computer.  Everytime I back up it says it's on Icloud and I can't find it.  If i Unsubscribe will my MYOB account right be 'read only'?

I tried to follow other threads and downloaded the MY AR server edition.  To try to import into it but, can't seem to do it as everything is too confusing.

Thank you

I had to upgrade so I can do the taxes a couple weeks ago.  I couldn't get into MYOB or else it kept taking me to login page then get my verification code and it would keep doing that until I gave up and upgraded it.  Then it allowed me back into MYOB.   I noticed that in the past year  MYOB made me upgrade before I'm able to use it again.  Thank you for the responses.  I emailed customer support and have a case number and requested a read only option.

    Hi squeako,

We recognise that record keeping is important for businesses who end their subscription with MYOB.  As part of the cancellation process, when you call and speak to one of the team, they will talk you through the options available which include:

    • Downloading data through report packs
    • Requesting a one time server backup retrieval
    • A low cost read only subscription

To The_Doc's point, with option 2, the server backup you receive cannot be opened at any time, as it is was an online file, this can only be viewed now with an active subscription. In the instance where you might be audited or need to access these records (beyond what you can see in downloaded reports, you will be able to contact our support team to see what options are available for you to restore the backup.

    Cheers, Princess

    Hi squeako

And there lies the problem we tried to inform MYOB they were preventing with their rollout of 'only being able to backup online' - from AR 2026.6 forward and we are now into 2026.7 as of the weekend - you cannot open your file with AR SE unless it is still 2026.5 and hasn't been upgraded.

If is still showing as 2026.5 - do not upgrade it and I can walk you through how to get to it with AR SE 2026.5 and download a backup version.

If it is 2026.6 or 2026.7 you can not get at it with AR SE to even download it and you cannot revert a file to a previous version - you need to contact MYOB for that and see if they can give you a copy.

I believe there is a 3rd party somewhere that can revert it to 2026.4 - I am looking at doing that in the longterm but time is against me.

I believe MYOB has now realised those users who no longer have an active contribution have no way of getting a copy of their file to their local backup and an ability to open it.

    We did tell them......
