Wrong Bank account coding

Hi team.

I have 3 accounts.

Cheque

Savings 1 tax/acc

Savings 2 equipment savings

I started with a cheque account with bank feed and a savings which I eventually added a feed to.

then I opened another account/suffix and have been using it as another holding account and have used it for about 6months with out a feed attached.

I have just added a feed to it and somehow both savings accounts are coded to the opposite account instead of them selves.

This has created  imbalances across all accounts and a huge problem for me which I have finally found the issue..  as above.... (I think)..

Can I just change the assigned account code in the edit bank details (in MYOB) that the bank account is coded too and re reconcile and things will even out, or is it more complicated that this.

Please Help.

Regards Adam

    Hi Dizzyswinger,

That definitely sounds messy, especially after it’s flowed through more than one account.

From what you’ve described, this usually isn’t as simple as just editing the bank details and expecting everything to balance back out on its own. If a bank feed is already linked, it generally can’t just be transferred across to another account code if there’s already an existing feed relationship there.

In cases like this, the safer path is usually either to move the transactions across manually, or set up a new bank feed against the correct account and work from there. You can also visit this help article for more information about: Bank feeds
