Future pay runs & IRD filing

I use MYOB Business Payroll Only in NZ and pay employees weekly. I will be away for three weeks, and there is nobody available to process payroll while I am away.

I would like to process all three weekly pay runs before I leave, email the payslips in advance, and pay employees on their normal weekly payment dates.

How can I do this while ensuring each pay is filed with Inland Revenue within two working days of the correct payday? If I record three separate future-dated pay runs now, will MYOB submit all three to IRD immediately, and will IRD accept the future-dated submissions? What is the recommended compliant workaround?

Being away for three weeks with no one available to process payroll makes it understandable that you’re looking for a way to prepare the weekly pays in advance.

Payday filing is submitted when each pay run is processed and is based on the actual payment date. IRD requires electronic filing within 2 working days after each payday. Future-dated pay runs aren’t held for later filing, so processing all three in advance could send the filings too early.

The safest option is to have an authorised person process each pay on the normal payday and submit the filing then. They’ll need payroll access in the software and delegated access to the business’s Payroll or Payroll Returns account in myIR.

Thanks Genreve, that is what I thought for the 2 day filing with IRD, but unfortunately I don't have anyone to do this.
