re-employing previously terminated employee

I have recently re-employed a previously terminated (in 2023) employee [in MYOB Business Essentials]. Although I have reversed his termination, the previous termination date still shows, and I unable to process his pay.

I have gone into STP reports, and clicked terminations tab, but his termination does not come up, so I cannot undo it in that spot.

Any ideas?

    Hi wino5453,

If they were terminated in 2023 and you're now re-employing them, you should just need to remove the termination date from the employee record, make sure Inactive employee is unticked, and update the Start date to their new return date. If the termination isn’t showing in the STP Employment terminations tab, that’s usually expected in this situation. The undo termination step is only needed if the employee is being reinstated in the same payroll year they were terminated. Can you please double-check these steps:

    • go to Payroll > Employees
    • turn on Show inactive employees
    • open the employee record
    • on Contact details, make sure Inactive employee is unticked
    • on Payroll details, delete the Termination date
    • update the Start date to the date they returned

If it’s still blocking the pay after that, the easiest workaround may be to set them up as a new employee record instead. Here’s a link with the full steps for MYOB Business: Reinstating an employee.

    Regards,

    Sai
