Request Timed Out message when saving or duplicating a Bill

Each month I have a large bill to input from a supplier. It usually has around 115 line items.

To make it easy I assumed I would be able to simply save and duplicate the previous months bill.

Each time I attempt to do this I am met with the message:
The request has timed out. Please try again. If the error persists, get in touch with us. Request ID: eb2d26e5-9383-4492-ab1a-194e1e3025b3.

The bill never duplicates, the message just keeps appearing.

I also receive the "request has timed out"  message when attempting to simply save the bill, I have to try 3 or 4 times to save it, as the message continues to appear the only way to know if the bill has actually saved is by checking the list of bills.

As this doesn't occur with bill that have less line items I can only assume that MYOB simply can't handle this much data, which sounds ridiculous. As the actual data packet that makes up one of this bills must be absolutely miniscule by todays standards.

It renders the duplicate function null and is extremely frustrating and time consuming.

Is there any solution for this?

    Hi Ben_Sa

Thanks for the screenshot and for explaining how you’re using the bills. I totally get that some businesses have big invoices like yours.

At the moment, MYOB Business struggles with bills that have that many line items in a single transaction, which is what’s triggering the timeout error. The current workaround is to split the bill into a few smaller ones, so each has fewer lines.

I know it’s not ideal, but it is the most reliable way to stop that error from popping up and make sure everything saves properly.

  • Thanks for getting back to me Genreve.

Is this the same for all MYOB products?

What sort of timeline is there for a fix of this issue?
I'd like to know as I'll need to find a different accounting platform as in future we will only be handling more bills and invoices and they potentially will be the same or larger in item lines.

    thank you
    Ben

      Hi Ben_Sa

AccountRight handles things a bit differently because the workload is shared between your computer and the cloud, so it can cope a bit better in some cases – but it still has limits when a single transaction gets really big.

The main win with AccountRight is that you can use the Timeout Extender to give it more time to process larger transactions before it times out: https://community.myob.com/t5/Tips-and-Tricks/AccountRight-Timeout-Extender/td-p/583727

On the MYOB Business side, I don’t have any confirmed info I can share about a change that would lift this limit for large, line‑heavy bills. Right now, the supported approach is still to split those big bills into smaller ones so they’ll save and duplicate without timing out. I know that’s not ideal, especially with your bills likely to keep growing.
