Hi Crackpots,
Great questions, and awesome to hear you’ve been testing things out with MYOB Assist.
SMS invoices are sent using the online payments service, they’re not just a plain text from your phone. That means SMS will only work when online payments has been approved and turned on for your file, and that invoice has Online payments enabled when it’s created.
And also, online payment options (Pay now, payment methods, etc.) only appear on the online invoice that opens from the secure email/SMS link. (Your email includes a link to a viewable online version of your invoice which your customer can view online, print or download as a PDF.)

Earl
Hi Earl -
Thanks for the response. We have signed up for MYOB assist and receiving payments online. Our account has been verified.
When we use the MYOB assist app and email an invoice everything works fine - we receive the invoice & the online payment button appears on the invoice.
If however we ask for the invoice to be delivered via SMS, nothing seems to happen. The invoice is not received. (We tried twice & double checked the phone number). So my question is, what do we need to do to set up sending via SMS? Is there something else that needs to be enabled or turned on?
Looking forward to receiving next steps to resolving this issue.

Hi Crackpots,
Thanks for explaining your SMS issue further. SMS invoices use the same online payments setup as your email ones, but they’re sent a different way behind the scenes, which is why email can behave differently, and SMS can still be a no‑show. I recommend jumping into MYOB Business in a browser, double‑check the customer’s mobile field (standard AU mobile, e.g., 04xx...), then open the invoice and go Share > Send invoice link via SMS to see if that comes through.
If it’s still not landing after that, the best bet is to reach out to our support team by logging a ticket in My Account, or connecting to live chat through MOCA, our virtual assistant, so they can dig further into the SMS side for your file.

Genreve
