Change of owner

The owner of the myob file is retired and no longer active in the business, therefore, I need to change the owner. Can I please be sent the relevant form to update these details? Thank you.

    Hi ChalkHill,

If the business itself isn’t being sold, then the Change of Ownership form may not be the right fit, as that process is generally used when the legal ownership of the MYOB account is being transferred. In a situation like yours, where the original director is still part of the business but no longer manages the file day to day, it’s usually better to look at updating the primary contact instead. If they’re still a recognised contact on the account, they may be able to nominate the new primary contact through My Account. If not, the Change of Primary Contact form would normally be the next step. You can also check the steps here: Change the primary contact on an MYOB account.

    Regards,

    Sai

Thanks for the response Genreve. Only issue with the 'change of ownership' form is that a contract of sale is required as supporting documentation. The company is not being sold. The file was originally set up by one of the Directors who is now elderly. They remain a director (it is a family business) but are not active in day to day running and never use the MYOB file. Therefore we would like to change the ownership of the file. Will the suggested form still work?

    Hi ChalkHill

I understand you need to update the ownership details.

You’ll generally need to complete the steps here: Transfer ownership of MYOB software.

Depending on the setup, you may also need to follow the steps here as well: Change the primary contact on an MYOB account.

You’ll be able to find the relevant forms on those help pages.

Once you’ve filled them out, please use the submission details on the support pages above. These requests are usually processed within 3 to 5 business days once the documents have been received.

If the previous owner no longer has access to the file, it’ll still need to go through the assisted change of details process rather than self-service.

    Regards,
    Genreve
