Import General Journal

Hi,

I'm trying to import a general journal, I've exported the template and updated with new data. However I keep getting an error -15 account not found. When I view the log the account numbers have changed. None of the accounts are header accounts and the GST balances in the excel version. What am I doing wrong, I've researched and changed things. I have large journals that I would like to import each month.

This is my journal template.

This is my error import log.

Please help.

Regards,

Belinda

Hi BelindaParker , if you wish, email me the text file you are attempting to import , and the log file created, and I'll see if I can spot any other issues. Email: mike (at) datawise dot co dot nz

  • Thanks Mike,

I've updated my journal to bring through all of my columns, I've triple checked my GST. Still giving me the same error.

I'm copying the data from an excel file into the text file via excel, ie I open the text file in excel and copy the data over as text into the excel and close. It is then saved which updates the text file.

I'll have to enter my 80 lines manually as I cannot waste any more time on this for month end.

I'll come back and revisit next week as it is driving me nuts. I've also logged it with the support team.

    Thank you for your help.

Hi BelindaParker , the account numbers appearing in the import log are internal numbers only, but they do indicate that an account number has been found. You should confirm that the account numbers are postable, but this error can be reported for other non-related reasons.

For example, your template does not include a column for the tax amount, which is a required field (see Import and export fields for details). This field is required even if zero.

I enclose an example journal which is based on exporting a GJ transaction from my file. I recommend including all the columns, in the order displayed. (Category can probably be omitted unless you are using them). Even a change in column sequence has been known to cause import errors.

  • Hi Earl,

Thanks for your reply, the accounts are linked to a header account but aren't they all? The journal has bee posted manually to these accounts many times. The accounts themselves are not header accounts.

I'll submit a case as the solution in the post linked in your reply does not solve my error.

    Regards,

    Belinda

    Hi BelindaParker,

Thanks for sharing the journal template, it’s super helpful to see what you’re working with! The Error -15: shows up when the account number in your journal doesn’t exist in your MYOB Chart of Accounts or is linked to a header account. To resolve this, please see this post. If the issue remains the same, make sure to reach out to our team directly. You can reach them on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount.
