Moving from Desktop to Online

I know how frustrating that is. If you can't remember the old email, I'd try contacting support through the online chat or submitting a support request instead of waiting on the phone. Hope you get it sorted before the deadline!

Thank you for your post, unfortunately, I was putting an old Classic V16 on line, but could not complete on my own, as MYOB have to undertake the migration, I managed to get through after 3 hours on hold, and have started the process, purchased an online sub, and uploaded the file where I was requested to do, hopefully within 5 days, I will receive an email stating the process has been completed.

Fingers crossed, this all goes smoothly for one of my clients.

I have to mention that this has been such a stressful time for all concerned, whether it be bookkeepers, users, or even someone needing support for other issues, many sleepless nights.

We know that call wait times have been much longer than usual, being unable to reach us to get help with this change has not been acceptable, and we’re sorry for that.

We’ve heard your feedback and worked hard on improvements in this release to support your file moving online, regardless of whether you already have a subscription or need to purchase one - this means you can navigate the change without needing to call us.

These changes will be visible when you open up AccountRight from the morning of the 18th of June.

I also have a client that has a case number created 3 weeks ago, and the consultant assured me it would be sorted out well before the 17th, it is now the 15th and no communication from MYOB at all, have no idea what I can do for them when Wednesday arrives.  Heading back to my client an hour away tomorrow early so I can get on the phone as early as possible, not sure how that will go.

It is so stressful, that our hands are tied, getting onto a consultant, there is absolutely nothing we can do, MYOB should have offered more consultants to assist us, or reassess the date they are using!!!

I am in the same boat, on hold for over 2 hours just today, got nowhere last week.

Disgraceful customer service from MYOB and to do something like this in June is a terrible decision!

Hi all, a note to let you know that we have updated our help information to make it clearer for customers to understand the process of moving their file online.
Particularly, the step around updating your serial number in product seems to catch a few people.
Please check out the information here. It is important to note that these steps will only work until the 17th June when the changes to offline mode take place.
We will update the help again with the process for going online after the 17th (once the change has gone through)

Ok, so it sounds like it is Classic v16 (from 2007), not 2016 and if their confirm my company file is not highlighted then it is currently confirmed and they can continue until the confirmations stop working. Then they can use a third party to confirm (email me if you would like more info) or go online. Migrating this sort of file to online is something that would need to be done by MYOB. I suggest they don't do anything until after year end and then you will have a better chance to plan the transition. 

I don't know if MYOB will realise the detrimental impact of their poor rollout and change the date but I wouldn't count on it.

Hi Liz,

Under the "about MYOB Account for Windows" in the help section, it says Australia Release Version 16.0.01 it does not mention Classic V16, if you look at "confirm my company file" area, it is not highlighted and you cannot click on it.  So I am assuming I should be right to go ahead and use this file.

They are willing to move on line, and this is the frustrating part, because you just cannot get to speak with any consultant, I have tried various numbers at various times, and after 2 hours on hold, I just give up, I don't feel that I can charge my clients an hourly rate to just sit on hold.  

Do you think there is any chance MYOB will extend the date of the 17th owing to all the complaints about not being able to speak with anyone.  I am also thinking, if a client has a Case Number and this Case has not been attended to, before the 17th they should allow them more time.

If you mean v2016.0.1, then any version prior to v2021.1 does not automatically update. The earlier versions had to be deliberately upgraded after downloading subsequent versions. In this case, nothing needs to be done for your client - they can continue as is. 

If you mean Classic v16, then they won't be able to continue confirmations at some point and will need to contact a third party to confirm their files.

I did try and look for the above procedure, but unless the file is hidden, I could not locate under C:\ as stated above???

It just turned into a nightmare, their version is 16.0.1 so must not be updating.

Are these earlier versions going to be okay to continue to use?

I also have a client who is trying to transfer ownership to themselves, they purchased the online subscription but the file cannot up load on line, due to the ownership issues, this has been going on for over 2 weeks, and we do have a case number, but no one gets back to them.  Not sure how this will go after the 17th.
