Restoring from Prior Backup to Retrieve data from 2016

So after being ON HOLD for 1.5hrs, and then subsequently being transferred to the Partners division only to be told that I need to go to another section with a further wait time of 70-77 minutes, I can honestly say this is the very first time I have EVER truly been disappointed in MYOB since its conception.

What happened to calling technical dept, getting a ticket number for a call back, or even choosing to be on hold to speak to someone who actually knows what they are doing?!

Needless to say Ive restored prior backups and am still unable to obtain one particular invoice from 2016 due to purged information.

The file that I do need now has a serial number issue......WTH?! Ive attached an image and hopefully someone can shed some light as to how to retrieve this document.

  • Hi Preshs_Oz

Sorry to hear you've experienced this. I removed your screenshot as it contained confidential information.

In order to upgrade that file online the online file owner needs to be logged in with their email address. This is different to the one in your screenshot. Alternatively, you should be able to upgrade that file offline: Upgrade without putting your company file online

Please let me know how you go.

      Thanks Tracey,

None of the options were possible.

I did, however, have an old version of +MYOB AccountRight v19.16 Premier + sitting on this computer, which I thought I might try as this is what we used before upgrading (and I still use for another client) and considering all i wanted was one invoice and not change any data, it actually worked!

Thank you so much for your help!

  • Hi Preshs_Oz

If the backup you restored does not have the invoice you need, you will need to find an earlier backup that does. Once an invoice is purged, it is gone from that file and cannot be recovered.

When restoring, ensure you are restoring offline and use a clear file name to avoid file mix up. Restored files should  be deleted once you have finished what you need to do.

Restored backups may well have 'expired', open as read-only and do not try to Confirm the restored file - this will avoid serial number issues. Keeping the file as readonly also ensures no changes are made to the restored file.

    Regards

    Gavin
