Annual leave accruing on overtime

I am trying to include overtime on the list of wage categories that are exempt from the calculation of annual and long service leave. When I select the overtime categories to be exempt in the relevant entitlement category and then select OK in the Entitlements Information window I get an error message saying that exemptions can only be applied to hourly wage categories. But overtime is an hourly wage category so I'm confused as to what I need to change for this to work. At the moment annual and long service leave is accruing on overtime hours which is clearly not right.

  • Hi, Tasinsure

Thanks for providing the requested screenshot.

You can exempt a wage category from being included in entitlements from within the entitlement -Payroll > Payroll Categories > Entitlements > Select the Entitlement. There is an exempt button on screen if you select that and tick the relevant wage category it will be exempt from being included. If a category is unticked it will be included in the entitlement calculations.

In your post, you mentioned that you were getting the error EntitlementPayrollCategory_ExemptionsNotHourlyWages when completing that process. If that message does appear do the following:

    1. Click the Equals "Hours per pay period" option
    2. After that has been selected, click the "Equals % per of x hours" option before selecting OK.
You may have to re-enter the percentage for "Equals % per for x hours".

Once that has been clicked and then back again before selecting OK you should be able to select the relevant category to be exempt.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Best regards,

    Doreen

      Hi Doreen

Thanks for your assistance, screenshot attached. Overtime is set up as hourly so I don't know what the problem is.
