PayDay super for contractors who are paid allowances through payroll

Is it possible to set up an employee/contractor in three ways in MYOB?

1 - As a supplier when they invoice us for fees.

2 - As an employee to pay them award travel/meal allowances or if they choose to be paid through PAYG.

3 - As an employee, but on a separate employee card, set up as Other and Labour Hire with no Tax File Number entered. Then we could potentially pay super this way on fees that have invoiced us for without having to report OE.

Would the system allow that in MYOB? This is for someone who may work a number of short contracts with our company over many months. Or is having two employee records with the same super info a problem?

    Hi SuFish,

It makes sense to check this when the same contractor invoices you and also gets payroll allowances.

If they’re eligible for super, the software can let you keep them as a supplier and set them up as an employee for super. If you're unsure, check the ATO rules or ask your payroll adviser. Paying super for contractors

If they already have an employee card for allowances or PAYG, check before making another with the same super membership number. In AccountRight, duplicate cards can stop Pay Super. If you are still having difficulties, I recommend contacting our support team for further help.
