Retrospectively proving that an employee self onboarded
Hi MYOB
I have an employee that has lodged their 2026 Tax return and ended up with a substantial tax bill. The reason for this is the Tax Free Threshold was ticked as YES and should have been NO
The employee completed their details using the onboarding feature. They are denying having done this and are saying that it is our error.
Because the initial self onboarding occurred over 1 year ago we no longer have the email confirmation from Flare/MYOB.
I have exhausted all your support notes on proving self onboarding and this was the only useful information that provides proof of employee self onboarding
If an employee completes the digital onboarding, MYOB bundles their actual inputs into downloadable compliance documents.
- Where to go: Open the employee’s card, look under the Contact Details tab and click the View Employee Details link. Similarly, check the Superannuation tab.
- What it proves: You will be able to export or download a system-generated PDF version of their TFN Declaration and Super Choice Form. The metadata or presence of these specific forms tied to the contact link proves the data was digitally declared by them.
We have done this and supplied this to our employee and they are accusing us of falsifying documents to cover up our error. On this document it gives
- Submitted dates
- FWIS sent and consent dates
- CEIS sent and consent dates
BUT there is not information proving what email address it went to, an IP address or anything that is useful for proving the employee self onboarded
My questions are
Can MYOB provide a more accurate and detailed report (digital log of the full process) of the self onboarding process proving an employee self onboarded and if not, why not?
