And I know I can turn the preference off and then back on again, which I have done, and fixed it - but that's not the point. Fix the program and fix the support

Sorry for the late reply. The error message is usually caused when Cost Centre tracking (previously called category tracking) is enabled in the background. For STP update events, you can still have it turned on, but it needs to be set to Not Required first. You can do that in AccountRight desktop with these steps:
- Click Setup
- Go to Preferences
- Open the System tab
- Find Turn on Cost Centre Tracking: Cost Centres are
- Set it to Not Required
- Once that’s done, try sending the update event again.
Hopefully that gets the update event moving without the cost centre gremlin blocking the doorway.
