Yes, you can have two separate company files with the same ABN, but there are few things to keep in mind. Since both files report under the same ABN, STP submissions need to be managed carefully to avoid duplication. Payroll processing should also be checked to ensure employees aren't reported twice for tax and super. BAS and financial reporting may require extra attention to keep everything accurate.
While it's doable, it's best to check with your accountant to ensure everything stays compliant with ATO requirements.
