Cannot delete a bill

I've just upgraded to MYOB 2025.5.0 and within minutes I've encountered so many restrictive changes. I'm really hoping this is just due to a simple setting change and I can continue working as we previously did.

Previously we could delete a bill in one simple click. Now it appears I have to unreconcile, unmatch the transaction, and even then I'm forced to reverse it instead of simply deleting it. This adds unnecessary complexity to what was once a very straightforward task.

One of MYOB's greatest advantages over other programs has always been its flexibility, giving users control over how much restriction they want to apply - typically manageable via the preferences tab. I'm really hoping this hasn't changed as we were not required to unreconcile or unmatch transaction previously as MYOB was smart enough to do it for us.

Can someone please confirm whether this is a simple setting issue ? I'd really appreciate guidance on how to return to the previous functionality, where bills could be deleted with a single click.

Thank you in advance for your support.

  • My system created EOFY adjustment journals on retained earnings and this has caused discrepancies in the P & L net surplus/deficit and current earnings in the Balance Sheet. This happened when I rolled financial years. How do I reverse these EOFY Journals because my books are not balancing anymore and I can't delete nor reverse.

  • Interestingly....I have managed to delete the bill online.  So this means that the MYOB desktop file is the one with the issue, which is where I perform 90% of my work. Does anyone know why and how I can fix this on the desktop file ?

Hi BRS22 , what you are describing sounds like what is required when the bill was previously a purchase order, and a payment was made against it. Is that the case here?

Another explanation could be that the security preferences have changed, to disallow changes to transactions; but that would apply to all types of transactions.
