Can we please have offline backups back?
I don't like the idea of having everything in the cloud and having no control whatsoever over MY datafile.

Hi lisadgs
totally agree and like you there have been countless occasions where I've needed to refer back to earlier data. I've always kept a complete copy of my clients data files (prior to end of year rollover) which means I can go back as far as the year 2000 in various versions of MYOB.
You are 100% right! Why can't we keep a back up locally? I want to keep my own back ups as well as those in the cloud - as and when I choose. I did before, I want to do this again! This is really basic stuff.

What the F$$K is this! We pay $330 per month and cannot access our own database offline!
So they've disallowed you to leave and take your database with you in case you move to another platform? What a sh!tshow move
Yes and the other thing is that whilst we could do a backup of our "current day" MYOB datafile, name it carefully, restore an older backup which overwrites our "current day" data, review what we need to and then restore the "current day" backup, BUT this is fraught with danger and risk of error. Not everyone is as understanding or methodical and this seems like a SEVERE RISK of losing potentially endless amounts of "current day" data and costing HOURS upon HOURS of time to get back.
This is not a solution MYOB. We need the option to keep our current day data untouched and out of harms way and restore a backup as a separate file that can be read only and reviewable. This should go to the top of the PRIORITY list. Thank you
I would like to add my voice to this. I am appalled that there is no way to have an offline backup of OUR data. I am therefore still working in Server Edition offline, where I can still utilise offline backups and I have some control of our data. If I was a conspiracy theory buff, there'd be a story here, I'm sure :-)
Clearly, at some time in the future, MYOB will make some change to ensure the Server Edition does not work, but for now this is my option.
I agree also about the logging on through the browser - archaic !
AmandaMYOB didn't actually answer the question about offline backups......
Hey Marlyse
The offline version of MYOB AccountRight desktop is built on technology that no longer meets today’s performance standards and we have no plans to bring offline backup functionality back.
Moving online will:
Our focus is shifting to investing in our next generation of online products and modern technology that reflects the evolving needs of our customers, delivering solutions that save time, increase efficiency, and improve collaboration between small businesses and their advisors.
Hi Marlyse MichelleJFD jenniek Tony_Hogan Veejays
This is one of the reasons we built MyDataXport.
It does not bring back MYOB’s offline backup function and it does not create a MYOB restore file. MYOB would still remain your live accounting system.
What it does provide is an independent export of your MYOB data and attachments into cloud storage you control, such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox.
So, rather than relying only on MYOB’s internal online backups, you can maintain your own separate archive of the business records outside MYOB. That can be useful for record keeping, audit history, EOFY snapshots, migrations, or keeping access to historical information if a subscription changes later.
Disclosure: I’m connected with MyDataXport. It is listed on the MYOB App Marketplace here:

More information is here:

remember - Xero doesn't do this. At least MYOB are doing online backups - but I too would like to see the ability to download them.
JEN1FER - why? - you can't do backups with Xero either!! - I would check mydataxport.com
