Accessing a desktop backup of on-line file

Currently using Accountright 2020.3 desktop versions, but looking to put a file on-line and streamlining.

When an on-line file is backed up to the desktop, as a precaution, can it then be accessed from the desktop if needed, or does it need to be restored to the cloud before you can access it?   For example if your internet was down, could you work on your desktop version & then restore that amended file to the cloud?

If you were using MYOB capture, does the backup, done on desktop, keep the receipts captured or only the MYOB file?

Looking at streamlining options, currently looking at integrating with Receipt Bank.  Has anyone had experience with this & how effective it is?

Backed up company files on AccountRight 2020 can be restored online or locally. If the company file is a backup of an online file, the company file IDs (Help>>About AccountRight) of the files would need to match to restore successfully.

It should be noted that if the file is restored locally, then the company file is stored on that computer and the online file is not automatically updated with new information entered into that restored file. For example, say I take a backup of an online file, restore it locally and enter a transaction into the local file. This transaction would not appear in the online company file, only in the local file (that the transaction was entered into).

If you have been using a file locally and need to have that company file now located in the cloud:

    1. Open the online file and go Help>>About AccountRight
    2. Take note of the Company File ID
    3. Complete Steps 1 and 2 for the local company file
If those numbers are different we may need to look at removing the file from the cloud to free up space so that the local file can be uploaded.
    4. Should those Company File IDs match, take a backup of the offline file - File>>Backup
    5. Once backed up, go to File>>Restore and select to restore that file online with AccountRight Live

The above process will take a copy of the existing local company file and restore that into the cloud replacing the listed online file.

You also mentioned the MYOB Capture app, this is solely a connection to the online company file and the In Tray. As such, to send documents or review those documents you would need to have the file online.

Thank you so much for the answer to my post.  Will look at putting file on-line in new year.

Has anyone had experience with the integration with Receipt Bank?
