MYOB Data Services - Serial Number Change

Question

Hi&nbsp;We have two companies operating under the same serial number, with different file ID's.We have requested a serial number change for one of the files as we have sold one of the businesses.MYOB response is;Thank you for contacting MYOB Data Services regarding Case # 000000000.We have received your request to change the Serial Number in your online file "Blahblah Pty Ltd" from serial number 000000000060 to 000000000000 for file Id 4.This process can take up to 3 working days to complete.&nbsp;Note: Now that your file has been submitted for serial number removal please stop using your file. Any information entered into your file while we are processing your request will need to be re-entered into the updated file.&nbsp;My question is, are we now unable to operate the business at all until the new file has been created?&nbsp;Thanks

Hi Jojo7,Great question, and well done getting the serial number change request underway!When MYOB Data Services does a serial number change, they work from the backup/snapshot of your file that was taken at the time of the request. That copy is completely separate from the one you keep opening in AccountRight, the two do not sync with each other.&nbsp;That’s why they’ve asked you to stop using the file while the serial number change is being processed – otherwise you’d need to manually re‑enter anything you add in the meantime into the updated file when it comes back.Regards,Earl
