Single Touch Payroll reporting error

Hi

I'm processing the STP in AccountRight and I'm up to the EOFY finalisation tab. I've entered in RFBA figures for relevant employees. After selecting all employees and clicking 'Finalise and notify the ATO', I enter my name to submit the declaration, but I keep receiving the error:

Something went wrong. Please try again or refresh the browser.

I first tried this on Friday and it's still happening today. I've refreshed the browser, tried a different browser, signed out and back in and tried again, but I'm still getting the same error.

Has anyone else experienced this or knows what might be causing it?

Thanks

Deanne

  • Hello Deanne

I am having the same problem and not being able to finalise for EOFY as I had tried to do them all at once. I had to do the employees one at a time and that seemed to work but now there is one left with RFBA to enter (exemption, we are a NFP) and I keep getting that message. I have tried so many times. It is so frustrating. Logging in and out, refreshing the screen etc but nothing is working. I wish I knew what was going on. But would suggest trying one at a time and see if you have any luck with that. I hope you don't have too many employees where that will drive you nuts!

Yes, that's right. Once I realised that, I just left the RFBA part blank as the person was under $3500 of grossed up fringe benefits and finalised their pay.

    Hi dmartin,

Hitting that error again would be a pain, especially after already trying the usual browser troubleshooting. The “Something went wrong” message can pop up for a few different reasons. It might be because you’re trying to finalise a larger group of employees at once, or it could be related to the RFBA amount entered for one or more employees. It’s worth having a quick look at the RFBA thresholds for any affected employees. You can find more info about the RFBA-related “Something went wrong” message in the FAQs here.

    Cheers,

    Hi DJ3,

Thanks for sharing the steps you took to process the pays one at a time, that’ll really help others who run into the same error.

It does sound frustrating spot to be in, especially when you’re so close to getting EOFY finalisation wrapped up. This “Something went wrong” error can pop up during STP finalisation if there’s an issue with what’s been entered in the RFBA fields, or if the combined RFBA amount is under the ATO threshold. A good first step is to clear out any amounts in the RFBA or Section 57A fields and make sure the Enable RFBA option isn’t ticked if there’s nothing you need to report there. You can also check this FAQ for more info: Why am I getting the error “Something went wrong” when entering RFBA amounts?.

    Cheers,

    Princess

Hi DJ3 & DMartin.  I am having the same problem and just trying to interpret the ATO website.  Did you find RFBA was less than $3773? And if so, do you finalise the employees pay without the RFBA amount?

Hello DMartin, Mine was the amount in the RFBA as well and I got it finalised yesterday. Had to do some reading on the ATO website re the minimum limits to work it out.

Yes, my manager realised the amounts were below the limits so we could remove from RFBA field, then all processed okay.
