Another subscription

I have tried ringing MYOB numerous times and after being on hold for over an hour each time have had to hang up.

We are a non-profit sporting association and currently use Accounting Right online with a subscription. We are registered for GST and have one employee.

We also have a junior sub-committee which we keep a separate set of financial records in MYOB offline.

Our Junior Subcommittee is not registered for GST, has not employees and usually operates from August to November.

As MYOB offline is now finishing, I wanted to know what my best option was for the junior finances.

If we have to have another subscription, how do to take out another subscription?

I have tried contacting MYOB without success, so any help would be much appreciated.

I would like to know the following:

  • Taking out another subscription?
  • How to put junior online?
  • How to change offline records to online?

Help!!

    Hi JW8

You could also keep the offline file offline, by installing the server edition of MYOB V2026.5 which will no longer be updated, and can continue offline. Just means you will need to have 2 versions of MYOB on your computer - and use different versions to access your files. The PC version (for online) will continue to update.

    Hi JW8,

I’m really sorry you’ve had such a hard time trying to get through to us, and I can understand how challenging that would be. From what you’ve described, the junior sub-committee would most likely need its own separate subscription if you want to keep those records going once the offline option finishes. Because the junior file is separate, it can’t stay under the same offline setup. Each company file now needs its own online subscription. In terms of the best option, if the junior sub-committee only needs basic bookkeeping, doesn’t use payroll, and isn’t registered for GST, then a simpler online subscription may be enough. If you mainly just need to record income and expenses and run basic reports, that is usually the direction to look at.

    To answer your questions:

    • Taking out another subscription
You would need to set up a new subscription for the junior file. This can usually be started from within AccountRight when moving the file online, or our team can help arrange the right subscription for that file.
    • How to put junior online
Once the new subscription is set up, the junior file can be moved online. In AccountRight, you’d open the file and follow the prompts to move it online.
    • How to change offline records to online
The offline file would need to be migrated to an online file. This normally involves creating a backup of the offline file, then uploading that backup as part of the migration process.

If you’d like, the safest next step would be to get the junior file onto its own subscription first, then move that file online after the subscription is active.

    Regards,

    Sai
