MYOB New Version Updates

Hi Support Team

 

I’m hoping to get some guidance on how MYOB updates are handled.

We’re using AccountRight Server Edition and with each new update, most users seem to receive it automatically. However, there are always one or two users who need to install the update manually. Interestingly, it’s not the same users each time - the ones affected seem to vary with every update.

Shouldn’t updates download and install automatically for all users? Has anyone else experienced this or knows what might be causing it?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as it would be ideal for updates to run automatically for everyone.

    Hi sanjita_prasad,

     

    You're spot on that updates should roll out automatically, but with AccountRight Server Edition, it can sometimes depend on each user's setup. Things like user permissions, Windows settings, or even antivirus/firewall restrictions can stop the update from installing automatically on some machines which is why it might be different users each time. Bit of a lucky dip sometimes.

     

    A couple of things worth checking:

    • Make sure all users have the right permissions to install updates on their PC
    • Check if any antivirus or firewall might be blocking the update
    • Ensure everyone is opening AccountRight from the same server install (not a local shortcut to an older version)

    If those all look good and it's still happening, it might be worth doing a quick manual install on those machines just to keep everyone on the same version.

    Hi Sai,

     

    Apologies for the delayed reply. Our IT staff member has been on leave. Please see his response below:

    "Hi Sanjita, I don't believe any of the issues identified by MYOB are causing this problem, as all users have exactly the same permissions. The issue appears inconsistent — only the first three users receive the automatic update, while the rest are required to update manually."

     

    Would you be able to look into this further? Manual updates are quite time consuming and painful for the team, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi sanjita_prasad,

     

    Thanks for testing out the workarounds provided by Sai. Since none of the earlier tricks have fixed manual update and you’ve confirmed everyone’s on the same permissions, this really needs a closer look from our side. Reach out to our team on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA, or by submitting a support case via My Account. They can check those specific users and work out why only a few are getting auto-updates while the rest are stuck doing it manually.
