Let me put my point more precisely: the backups sit on separate infrastructure, but they're reachable only through the same account and subscription as the live file. The situations people in these threads are worried about, a lapsed or cancelled subscription, a locked account, closing a business and getting audited two years later, affect the file and the backup at the same time. As I understand it even the server backup retrieval needs an active subscription to view. That access coupling is the gap an independent copy in the customer's own storage covers, and it's the part I'd love to see MYOB solve natively one day.
