Hi jonglo
Yes, that's correct. I disabled updates on my install after the 2026.3 release, and it has stayed that way ever since then.
If you want or need to run multiple versions of MYOB, or a mix of online and offline company files, then the solution posted by Liz_A elsewhere in this forum is a good alternative approach.
Note that, as users, we still need and depend on the company file confirmation service that MYOB provides. MYOB has stated here that confirmations will continue to work after 17 June - but there are no guarantees for how long.
Enjoy!
MYOB would have an IT dept and apparently it's not that simple. AccountRight files - both standard & Server Edition - have a hard coded internal expiry date apparently. I've been getting a lot of answers from AI. Even if you move your datafile to a PC with no internet, the countdown will still tick down locally. AI also said this:
- Targeting the Wrong Executable: You blocked Update.exe. However, the main program that opens your file and talks to the internet to check licensing is MYOB.AccountRight.Executable.exe (or a similarly named main application file in your 2026.5 folder), not just the updater.
To maximize your chances of keeping the software running strictly offline as a single user, you need to block the entire application, not just the updater.
- Fix the Firewall to Block Everything: Do not just block Update.exe. Create a new Outbound Rule in Windows Firewall that blocks all executable files (.exe) inside your active build folder (e.g., C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\AccountRight\2026.5\). Specifically ensure MYOB.AccountRight.Executable.exe is blocked.
The long term fix is to backdate Windows clock apparently. This is veering into IT territory and you'd want a spare offline PC so it doesn't matter if you break it. I'm mainly replying to say that MYOB would have IT experts and I doubt they'd be stumped by one of us changing an update executable to bak or disabled.

Hi Grandma8670
Just to clarify, this thread is about how to stop AccountRight automatic software updates. The solutions discussed here are proven to work. They eliminate any need to repeatedly re-install a certain version of the software. Thus a company file can remain offline.
But this does not make AccountRight permanently free and unencumbered. It still must "confirm" the company file(s) every so often.
I see that you have posted elsewhere in the forum about the idea of an isolated PC with an adjusted clock setting, and some of the other community members have responded with further advice about this. I would just add that anything generated by an AI should be treated with skepticism - "AI slop" is the appropriate term. Take it with a grain of salt. Without underlying evidence, the AI's responses are merely conjecture.
Cheers
