Server Backups

Hi Mike_MYOB

In this post you mentioned the Server Backup Retrieval service. Several users have posted that when they tried to secure such a backup, they were advised by support that no such service was available.

Today a client contacted support and was told this was no longer available due to offline support being discontinued.

Can you please clarify:

Is the $49.95 server backup retrieval service available?

If yes, how can it be requested?

What exactly do we ask for?

What do we do if support staff tell us this is not available.

Regards

Gavin

    Hi gavin12345,

Thanks for raising this, as the wording around offline backups and Server Backup Retrieval could definitely be clearer.

The availability of Server Backup Retrieval depends on your AccountRight version. Backups can still be provided for files on AccountRight 2026.5 and earlier, but they can’t be provided for files on 2026.6 or later. The $49.95 fee applies where the retrieval service is available. To request it, contact support and ask specifically for an AccountRight Server Backup Retrieval. It helps to have your:

    • Serial number
    • Company file ID or CDF number
    • Company file name
    • Date of the backup you’re requesting
    • File owner’s authorisation, if applicable

Support can confirm whether a recoverable backup is available and explain the quote and payment steps. If you’re told the service isn’t available, mention your AccountRight version and ask them to confirm whether Server Backup Retrieval is available for that version, or have the request reviewed by the team that handles it. Keeping your case number handy will help with any follow-up. For assistance, please reach out to our support team via Contact Us page.

    Cheers,

    MYOB

    Hi Doreen_P

Thank you for your reply and explanation. Odd, given most online files in use are now AR2026.6 or higher.

If an online file is AR2026.7, and due to your policy re offline file, you will not provide an AccountRight Server Backup Retrieval in SQLCE format:

    • can you provide a backup in SQL format (or Azure), or
    • can you provide the online file in a .bacpac format

Client needs a copy of a large online file for specialist purposes, and not simply for accessing offline.

    Regards

    Gavin

    Hi gavin12345,

Thanks for explaining that the client needs a working copy for specialist purposes, rather than simply to open offline. At this stage, MYOB can’t provide an AccountRight 2026.7 online file as a SQL, Azure or .bacpac database. Online backups are retained in the MYOB cloud and aren’t available as downloadable raw database files. The older Server Backup Retrieval process uses the SQL-CE format for supported offline backups, so it isn’t an alternative format for this online file. The next step would be to identify the specific data the specialist needs and export that from the live file. Our support team via Contact Us page can help confirm what’s available for the required use case.

    Cheers,

    Doreen
