Using offline version of MYOB AccountRight Standard v19.1

I don't want to go to the online version as we have a very small business and looking to retire in the next couple of years. I have downloaded the MYOB AccountRight Standard v19 but am unable to download the Standard v19.1 update (I'm not sure if I need it or not). When I try to open the program, the message tells me:

"This app has been blocked for your protection.

An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information, contact the administrator.

Myobe.exe"

I have added myself as an administrator and can't remove the SYSTEM administrator. I don't know what I need to do next. I can't get through to speak to anyone at MYOB support. Can anyone help me, please?

    Hi Vicki

I just want to double check the version/s you have been using because you mention 2019 so I want to be sure you are using Classic v19? If you are definitely using this version, then I can only suggest that you need to change where you search for the *.zip files when you go into Restore. Perhaps you could copy the .zip files into the same folder as your current file which is where the Restore tool defaults to but be very careful when you restore any files to make sure you don't accidentally overwrite your current file as I said. There is also the option to change the file type at the bottom of the Restore dialogue box from AccountRight Data (.ZIP) to All Files (*.*) which shows all file types. If you have been using v2019 and have reverted back to Classic v19, then you won't be able to restore the 2019 files because the versions are incompatible. Let me know if this doesn't resolve your issue.

    Cheers

    Hi Liz,

Sorry I am not explaining myself very well. I am not very computer savvy. I can see my backup files when I search for them on the computer, so I know they are still there (in my external hard drive), but they do not show to select and open them from within the MYOB app. None of my backup files show up, only the main company files that were created in 2019.

    Cheers, Vicki

    Hi Vicki

This sounds like your backup files, so login to your current file and go to File, Restore and look for the *.zip file/s that you want to restore. Be mindful of where you save the restored file as it will be the same name as your current file and you don't want to overwrite your live info. If I have misunderstood your query, please post again with a bit more info.

    Cheers

    Liz

    Hi Liz,

Thank you for the suggestion. I can now access the original main company file. However, I still can't access the recent zip files that are saved after accessing information.  Are you able to assist with this issue?

    Cheers, Vicki

    Hi Victoria

I have had the same problem on trying to run 19.15 on my server where it ran happily for donkey years.

It no longer runs without being an administrator - and opening 'User Account Control Setting' under control panel to 'never notify me' - a most unsavory position on a server - on your laptop this is fine as it will ask you to allow myob.exe to make changes to your device..... there may be a fix to get around on your laptop.

The message - this app has been blocked by your protection - look for Windows Defender or your Anti - Malicious software - they are stopping this program writing back to a file in your root directory where myob is installed - likely c:\Premier or similar,

C:\EnterpriseClassic\Myobp.exe - you have to allow writing to this directory typically it isn't a default - but as Administrator you can do - a search on the internet will tell you how.

    .

IT will run on your laptop with some tweaks - as it does on mine - but you have to get around old permissions on a modern laptop.

    Hi Victoria

Look for the MYOB.exe file in the program files and change the name to MYOB19.exe or similar. You may need to change your Desktop shortcut to make sure it is the newly named executable file. If this doesn't  work then search this forum as there are  other solutions but I found this the easiest one.

    Cheers
