Database duplication to a spare MYOB test file?

Hi All,

We are in the middle of implementing a new software integration and would like to duplicate our current file to the test file we have already set up. We figured the easiest way would be to restore to the test file however now that MYOB have removed that essential function, would the simplest way forward be for MYOB Support to do the duplication on the back end? If it is possible I will wait the hours on the phone to talk to someone because emails queries go unanswered for days on end it seems.

    Hi WalterP

Yep - we told MYOB this also - I outlined exactly this scenario to MYOB that I do this regularly - but this is no longer possible - I did suggest a sandbox facility for this very purpose.

This is one feature which I have used regularly for the last 10 years and is now trashed.....

The only way around this with the following suggestion

    1. test your software on your current file - api posts to the current file cannot happen as a mistake - the requirements for each post are so stringent that it is very difficult to post something without knowing - almost impossible - typically MYOB API spits back an error with the slightest thing wrong.
    2. or, backup to the cloud - do a test at will then restore. ...... assuming restore works correctly.

And here lies the problem never restore to 'just test' in case it doesn't work - restore to a sandbox - and check the restored file works.

MYOB has also trashed this capability in their very messy rollout of this change.

    Hi Walter,

I can see how nice it is to test certain features without compromising your file. There isn’t any process to copy a live online file into another online test file.

Restoring a backup over an online file replaces that file’s data, so please don’t try this on your live file. You can contact Support to ask whether they can help with your specific setup, but this isn’t a standard or documented option.
