Long Service Leave balance

I noticed the Longe Service Leave balance for a staff member decrease by a huge amount in May 2026 but the staff member did not take any LSL. Has the system got a glitch?

    Hi Titleist762,

That does sound a bit odd. A good first check is the employee’s Standard Pay to see whether there are any hours entered against the Long Service Leave pay item. If there are, make sure to remove those hours so they don’t keep affecting the balance. You can check that here: Review standard pay details. Once that’s been corrected, you can process a void pay to add back the missing leave balance. This guide steps through adjusting leave balances: Adjusting leave entitlements.

    Cheers,

    Hi Doreen

Thank you for your reply. I think I have a setup problem. For this particular employee, he is a casual and paid an hourly rate and has been a long term employee. Recently we have been accruing a LSL entitlement for him and I have noticed each pay cycle a small increment to his accrual is creating a negative balance to his entitlement. I am definitely not entering a payment from the entitlement. It is an accrual.

I am sure it is a simple fix, but it has me baffled.

    Cheers

    Hi Titleist762,

Yes, that definitely sounds like it could be an incorrect setup, especially with the linked wage item for the LSL. I’d suggest going back through the employee’s entitlement setup and double-checking each detail, particularly the linked wage item and how the accrual is set up. If it still doesn’t look right after that, it’s probably best to jump on live chat with our virtual assistant MOCA or check out the other support options on our website so the team can take a closer look.

    Cheers,

  • I have tracked the LSL balance issue and found when it started. I setup the LSL provision 1st Jan 2026 and it was working fine until 1st May 2026. I run payroll 1st of the month and again 16th of the Month.

On 1st May 2026 the balance went from positive 81.98 hrs to negative 2.13 hrs without any leave being taken. On 16th of May 2026 the accrual calculated correctly although the balance was still wrong from previous cycle. On 1st June the LSL balance dropped to negative 59.1 hrs, but then on 16th June the accrual calculated correctly again. This all happened again in July 2026. So it appears the LSL calculation for the payroll cycle on 1st of the month is where the issue is occurring.

I would be delighted to work through the setup with someone to help me resolve this issue.

    Kind regards

    Rod
