What is "Secure Invoicing"?

Hi MYOB,

 

I am reading a lot about emailing of invoices no longer being available from MYOB software unless you switch to Secure Invoicing.

 

Can you please explain what secure invoicing is.

 

From what I can see you are simply data mining the user's financial details and hoping that you will fool some people into paying extra to allow invoice payments by credit cards.

 

None of my client's businesses suit having their customers pay by CC, so we do not understand what makes giving away personal or secure data to a payment gateway any more secure.

    Thank you Amanda , As discussed, this has resulted in me (and MYOB) loosing a client as they don't wish to release their private and sensitive details just to continue to email their invoices to their customers when they have no need to offer credit facilities.

     

    This still smells like a con job.

      I agree. I think they are setting us up for something further down the track. Wouldn't surprise me in the least!

    I agree. I don't understand how this can be enforced onto us. They have my ABN which was supplied when I signed up. It almost like applying for a large loan. Also, doesn't my bank already have this information. Why do MYOB need it.

  • I too sent a myob support request on the 23/1/2025, still no reply, just prompts every day to do verification.  This client does not use online payments never has so why are we forced into this, agree with comments about another reason down the track.

      Hi AmandaCL , I have read where you have stated several times that you can turn Secure Invoicing off. This is NOT our experience.

      I have one client that (for now) unfortunately needs to persist with Myob (others have left due to this issue).  This client has been forced to go through the Secure invoicing process and after going through the rigmarole of getting approved, have tried many times to turn Secure Invoicing OFF but it just does not work - all invoices sent now allow clients to use this system which increases the price of the product exponentially if the customer uses it.  The business has been forced to PDF and manually email invoices which adds a lot of time and decreases efficiency.

      Forcing customers to use this system, that you cannot turn off, is just disgusting!!

       

      (One client does not use Myob for invoicing, and funnily enough that client is the only one that wasn't forced over to the new system!!!).

       

      This is just not good enough and I can't believe Myob is getting away with this daylight robbery!!!

        Good morning CathSGM ,
        If you or your customer are experiencing problems with disabling Online Payments after the secure invoicing upgrade, you will need to get in touch with our financial services support team.
        They will be able to troubleshoot and support you through how to correctly disable this feature now that you have completed the upgrade.
        Not all customers have been prompted to upgrade yet, we have been moving and communicating to customers in small batches at a time, this may account for why you have a customers that has not been prompted to upgrade to secure invoicing.

  • This is coercion! MYOB decides to remove a feature we are paying for when subscribing (sending invoices by email through MYOB), UNLESS we sign up to a payment service (financial service) we do not want. This has nothing to do with security. This is about forcing customers who signed up for an ACCOUNTING SOFWARE to accept FINANCIAL SERVICES (this why they need information about business owners, directors etc just like a bank would in order to comply with banking and anti-money laundering regulations). 

    MYOB need to give the option to opt out without loosing the ability to email invoices. All I want is an accounting software. We will not submit to this EXTORSION and will rather sign up with another software provider.
